GERM 1111 – Eine Reise nach Deutschland (Teil Eins)

Short Course Description

This is a course for beginners only, i.e., learners who have no prior knowledge of German. It allows learners to develop cultural knowledge and communicative skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in modern standard German. Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to demonstrate a CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) A1.1 level of proficiency.

Emil and Emma will be your guides on this tour to the German city of Frankfurt am Main, and they will show you how to introduce yourself, go shopping, name popular items, ask questions, and use common German phrases. When you are ready to start this journey, click on “Folge 1” in the menu above.

“Emma und Emil sind Dackel” – you just learned your first German sentence! It means, of course, that Emma and Emil are dachshunds. The Dackel is one of the most popular dog breeds in Germany. A dachshund called “Waldi” was the mascot of the 1972 summer Olympic games in Munich. See a picture of him here: Waldi

Los geht’s – let’s get going!

Enjoy your trip with Emma and Emil! Viel Spaß!
